Vermiculite is a fireproof and lightweight loosefill which can be easily poured around irregular shaped objects. The high absorbency of Vermiculite makes it an ideal packing material, particularly liquid items. Vermiculite is UN approved for use in the transportation of hazardous materials.
When heated, Vermiculite expands up to 30 times its original volume and converts into a granular type material.
Vermiculite protects against impact shock and improper handling, absorbing the impact energy by crushing slightly, whilst retaining its high level of absorbency and protection.
No protective clothing is required to handle Vermiculite as it is a fibre-free loosefill with no irritable ingredients. Vermiculite can also be recycled and reused where possible.
Vermiculite is also used within the horticultural industry to improve compost formulation, in the building trade to mix lightweight concrete and can also be used as loft and cavity wall insulation.
