Single wall cardboard sheets can be used as layering pads within cardboard boxes to cushion, protect and stablise packaged products and prevent packed items packed from crushing one another (always place heavier items at the bottom even when using cardboard sheet layers). Cardboard sheets can also be used as layering pads to stabalise stacked loads, for example boxes stacked on a pallet.

As cardboard sheets are lightweight and clean, they can be inserted into mailings to help keep products or documents flat: and protect corners and surfaces from mild scratching and abrasion.
